Error expected name must be a scalar

This is the error:

Error using map.internal.kmlparse (line 35)

Expected Name to be a scalar.

I received this when I try to execute a command . the value in edit2 i get it from one string from a uitable.

val1 = a(1,1);

val1 = table2array(val1);

set(handles.edit2,'String',val1);

how can i solve this?
