Initialising matlab in ubuntu

2 views (last 30 days)
I just installed Matlab 2014b student version in Ubuntu 14.04LTS. The installation was fine, had no problems with that. When I type in matlab in terminal to launch it it says: matlab: command not found. Can someboy please help me out?
Additing to this above problem, when I try to install matlab-support and enter the location of matlab installed ie., /home/matlab/bin/ I get an error message saying: no matlab installation found.

I'm sure you solved it by now, but for others who have the same problem I nevertheless answer the question. When you navigate into the Matlab-root-folder (/usr/local/MATLAB/R..../bin, or home/....) you can click on the file Matlab to start Matlab.
For the program Matlab-Service you have to choose the root directory, not the bin-folder.

Also you can navigate to the installed folder, then right-click on the matlab file and chose run in terminal
