There are some well-documented examples here:
Another great place to start is to go into your MATLAB folder and look for extern\examples\mex. There are several examples there with source. You can learn by modifying these.

#include <stdio.h>
int main()
{
int num;
/* Input number from user */
printf("Enter any number: ");
scanf("%d", &num);
if(num > 0)
{
printf("Number is POSITIVE");
}
if(num < 0)
{
printf("Number is NEGATIVE");
}
if(num == 0)
{
printf("Number is ZERO");
}
return 0;
}

This code does not answer the question and has nothing to do with a mex file. Why are you posting irrelevant code to an 8 year old post?
