App Nap on OS X Mavericks causing slow down?

Closed: MATLAB Answer Bot on 20 Aug 2021
I left a script running when I left the office. It should have finished about midnight. Instead, it was till running when I got in next morning. It slowed down overnight. It sped up again when I woke up the display...
So, is app nap causing this? I do not see the process being "nice'd" or a lower priority.
