Hi, Im trying to link in inventor with Matlab. Have installed the packages necessary as far as I can tell.
go to finish up and by typing the following command and the proceeding error messages occur:
">> smlink_linkinv
Error using smlink_linkinv (line 13)
This add-in is available for Windows only"
Why would they have a mac download if this was the case ? any ideas how to resolve so i can export from Inventor?
resolution would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

"Supported operating systems for your CAD platform are win32 and win64 except where noted below.
PTC Wildfire 4.0 on win64 is not supported for MATLAB Release R2012b and higher"
"Step 3: Register MATLAB as an Automation Server
Each time you export a CAD assembly model, the Simscape Multibody Link plug-in attempts to connect to MATLAB. For the connection to occur, you must register MATLAB as an automation server. You can do this in two ways:
- In a MATLAB session running in administrator mode — At the command prompt, enter regmatlabserver.
- In an MS-DOS window running in administrator mode — At the command prompt, enter matlab -regserver."
Notice no mention of Mac or Linux. Registering as an automation server is something that is only possible on MS Windows.
I agree that the documentation does not make it obvious that only MS Windows is supported, but the information is distributed around.

Okay, thanks.
I will try to run it all on a virtual machine then.

You have to move the downloaded to the MATLAB folder in Document! But then, literally the code smlink_linksw or smlink_linkinv does not work in mac os though. Cheers!

No, https://www.mathworks.com/campaigns/offerings/download_smlink.html still says Windows 32 and Windows 64 only.
