Comet/Structural Dynamics enables you to simulate the performance of structures and mechanisms (both static and dynamic) using codes such as ADAMS for rigid and flexible multibody dynamic simulations and ABAQUS, ANSYS, and MSC.NASTRAN for finite element analysis (FEA). With Comet, you can develop mechanical assembly simulations that are fully associative to the base CAD geometry.
Comet/Structural Dynamics enables you to conduct flexible multibody dynamic simulations at all levels of model fidelity in a single environment -- distributed across your computing network as needed -- giving you a single, coherent view of all your flexible multibody dynamic analysis data. For example, the results from an ADAMS analysis can be automatically applied as inputs to downstream FEA analyses.
Typical end users of Comet are workgroups comprised of analysts and engineers from many disciplines. Analysts create the design template, identifying the requirements of the design. The engineers, working within the parameters of the template, design and simulate a virtual prototype of the structural and mechanical systems using data generated or processed by MATLAB. Comet/Structural Dynamics connects to MATLAB using the COM interface and XML toolkit. The integration allows users to pass parameters from their CAD models directly into MATLAB for advanced modeling of system dynamics, and to retrieve outputs back into Comet for further analysis.
