The Bihrle Applied Research (BAR) D-Six simulation environment is a reconfigurable PC-based application designed for the development and deployment of air vehicle simulations. The environment contains a number of useful tools to execute and analyze batch and real-time simulations, including DirectX-based graphics, graphical simulation database access, plot tools, hardware interface, and low-latency networking. BAR has also developed a MATLAB ® code library for accessing D-Six simulations from MATLAB and Simulink ®. In addition, a Simulink Coder target and interface for D-Six have been developed to allow users to implement multiple Simulink models in a single D-Six simulation loop with no coding required.

End users of D-Six include the US Air Force, US Navy, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and a number of other companies involved in the aerospace industry. D-Six provides engineers and labs with a reconfigurable simulation environment that can be adapted to a broad range of projects, from developing flight models to providing a flight model host for hardware-in-the-loop application testing. D-Six networking lets users create multi-independent simulations quickly. Typical D-Six users do not have the resources or time to develop a custom simulation environment and seek a flexible application to get the job done.
