This function takes two curves with a loading and an unloading cycles and finds the maximum, minimum, or mean distance value between them.

Given two 1xN vectors, representing the x- and y-axis of the curve, this function splits it into the loading and unloading cycles. Then, the chosen function between minimum, maximum, or mean is applied to the vertical distance between them.
