Advanced Potential Flow Simulator

A tool that was developed for academic education of incompressible aerodynamics.

The MATLAB application Advanced Potential Flow Simulator calculates velocity fields according to the potential theory. The calculations are based on superposition of single elements added by the user or airfoils in a defined freestream, which is processed with the singularities method. The results can be visualized as streamlines, potential lines, pressure field and as a vector field. Additional visualization through element symbols and animated fluid articles is possible as well. If an airfoil is loaded, the distribution of the pressure coefficient along the airfoil surface can be calculated and compared to Xfoil's results. Export of the potential as LaTeX code and of the fields as .dat file for further processing, for instance with TecPlot is possible. The graphs can be exported as MATLAB figures.
