SCOPE: utility to recode categorical data as numerical scores
In order for the SCOPE to work, it is best (although it could be generalized in the future) that the riskfactor and the observedoutcome are in numbers stored in the excel workbook.
Strategy: the pre-process the excel data so that one univariate and one outcome
are stored in one file. Then recode them into numbers then apply SCOPE.
When the two columns are already numbers, there is no need to recode. This program deals with recoding the categorical riskfactors and observedoutcome. It will break from the program execution when the SEER data are already numerical.
