GUI tool for self-absorption correction in gamma spectrometry, designed for processing Genie 2000 reports.
Gamma Self-Absorption Correction (GASAC) is a graphical user interface application developed in MATLAB to streamline the correction of self-absorption effects in gamma-ray spectrometric data. This correction is essential when analysing bulk samples whose density or elemental composition significantly differs from calibration standards, potentially leading to inaccurate activity determination.
GASAC is designed to process output files from Genie 2000 (RPT format), filter spectral data based on user-defined criteria, and apply density- and energy-dependent correction factors derived from Monte Carlo simulations. The tool automates what is traditionally a time-consuming manual process, enhancing both efficiency and reproducibility in routine laboratory analyses.
