This submission is a MATLAB script named demo_aorbit that demonstrates how to interact with a MATLAB implementation of the analytic orbit propagator described in “Fast Orbit Propagator for Graphical Display”, Journal of Guidance, Control and Dynamics, Vol. 14, No. 2, March-April 1991, by F. Landis Markley and James F. Jeletic.
The key features of this algorithm are;
- J2 perturbation of the osculating semimajor axis only
- angular orbital element osculating versus mean errors are of order J2
- propagation of osculating orbital elements using a mean-to-osculating transformation
