How to Play

Create an interactive MATLAB experience that teaches, explains, or helps others explore a math, science, or engineering concept. Your entry must be a MATLAB app, a live script, or a combination of both.

  1. Choose a STEM concept. Pick a topic from mathematics, physics, chemistry, life sciences, Earth and climate science, AI and data science, or engineering.

  2. Build your experience. Use visualization, interaction, simulation, exploration, or storytelling to make the concept clear and engaging. Entries should focus on helping users learn—not on creating a general-purpose app, dashboard, utility, or toolbox.

  3. Submit to File Exchange. Publish your entry to File Exchange and and include a tag: ‘25yrcontest’.

  4. Join the community. Browse entries, download and try them, and leave comments. Don’t forget to click the ‘Follow the community’ button above to get notified for prize announcements and other important information.

STEM Domain Awards

MathWorks judges will pick up to 3 winners from each of the following domains, based on visualization, interaction, storytelling, and creativity.

  • Engineering

Each winner will receive a $50 Amazon gift card.

Weekly Prizes

  • Each week, MathWorks will give out 5 MathWorks T-shirts or socks to authors who submit files. 

  • Each week, MathWorks will give out 5 MathWorks T-shirts or socks to participants who comment on or review those submissions.  

Virtual badges 

Participants who submit a submission that meets contest rules will earn a STEM Showcase badge.
