Windows 7- fopen('\\.​\PHYSICALD​RIVE2') Doesn't Work as Intended

Our specialized hardware writes SDR cards with no formatting. How do I read back this data in Matlab? fopen('\\.\PHYSICALDRIVE2','r') doesn't work (I am running as an administrator). I used the Windows "wmic diskdrive list brief" to discover the DeviceID as follows:
Caption DeviceID Model Partitions Size
Lexar Pro CF USBReader USB Device \\.\PHYSICALDRIVE2 Lexar Pro CF USBReader USB Device 1 4104414720
