Why can't I dock the command window in the app designer? Right now to have proper access to my app and all debugging I literally need 3 screens. 1 for app designer, 1 for the app itself, and 1 for the command window/workspace.
OR. Why can't the app designer have its own command window?

UIFigures contain the DockControls and WindowStyle properties which are needed to dock figures but changing their property values is not supported as of r2020b. But since those properties exist, that might indicate that they will be supported in the future which will be 1 less window for you.
The future solution that doesn't work now would be
app.UIFigure.DockControls = 'on'; % not supported as of r2020b
app.UIFigure.WindowStyle = 'docked'; % not supported as of r2020b

Hi Kris,
Currently this feature is not available in the latest version of MATLAB. This issues is brought to the notice of the developer and it might be considered in future releases of MATLAB.
As a workaround you can refer to the below links
