Fuzzy text in MATLAB Live Editor

I've been having some small issues with my MATLAB Live Editor.

On occassion I will notice that the text in the live editor is rather blurry and hard to read. it affects plots as well. See below:

When I click on the MATLAB Live Script and "focus" on the section that is fuzzy, all of a sudden the text becomes sharp. See below:

I only just started noticing this, but it may have been occuring since I recently switched to a new computer. I know I never noticed it on my last PC. I thought perhaps it might be some kind of display or graphics setting on my new fancy GPU, but I am unsure. Does MATLAB have any recommended settings for the NVIDIA Control Panel?

I am running MATLAB Version 9.9.0.1495850 (R2020b) Update 1 and my PC has the following hardware:

OS: Windows 10 Po 20H2 - Build 19042.630

CPU: Intel i9-10920x

RAM: 128 GB Corsair LPX

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX2070 Super

MOBO: Asus X299X AUROUS PRO

Hi Charles,

I haven't observed this behavior before and it is remarkable that the fuzziness changes based on whether the section is active. Is it affected by zoom level? (I.e., if you use Ctrl+Mouse Wheel to zoom in and out.)

I am now trying to recreate the problem at a different zoom level. It does not appear to be occuring today after enlarging the content in the live editor window. I will try various things today to see if I can get the problem to come back.

I have checked further, and the fuzziness does occur at different zoom levels, but it is less noticeable at larger scale.

This issue really makes it challenging to use Matlab. Has there been any progress on determining a cause or potential workaround?

i'm facing the same issue and the only common thing is the GPU and windows build, working on a ryzen if that makes any difference.

About the same here. About 15min after starting Matlab my editor becomes completely blurry. When I click somewhere, the line becomes sharp again and then after some seconds it slowly becomes blurry and not readable. The Problem appears on all monitors I am using.

I use Matlab R2021b, Intel i7-6700HQ, 24GB RAM, NVIDIA Quadro M1000M.

In my case, whatever I do by applying suggested solutions from the Internet are not working.

The only way to fix the issue is just simply disabling the FXAA and all edge smoothing items in the 3D setting of the Nvidia control panel.( Right click on screen) for my Nvidia RTX4000 card.

It seems that disabling FXAA is sufficient to fix the problem for me. Thanks for the suggestion!

Double checked and you are right. Disable the FXAA is enough.

This really makes it very hard to use.

I see this mostly in "Live Editor" and "Help". f.ex Command window is unaffected and is sharp.

Clicking on the blurry text seems to cycle the amount of blurriness.

Can you suggest any workarounds? I've tried forcing DPI, that didn't help.

Otherwise it's 2x1440p (1xPortrait, 1xLandscape), 100% scaling and 1:1 pixel resolution set. Newest drivers.

I have found no solution.

It has been especially problematic for me recently as I use MATLAB to teach virtually through Zoom. My students are unable to see what I am doing on screen!

I found the same problem in the latest 2021b version. The text blurry is severe. When I click on the MATLAB Live Script and "focus" on the section that is fuzzy, all of a sudden the text becomes sharp. But after a few moment, the text becomes blurry again. I just searched for how to fix it, but I found no idea.

In my case (see comments on first post) it has something to do with the Matlab help. When I open Matlab, all the text is depicted sharply and as it should be. BUT: As soon as I open Matlab help the font becomes fuzzy. When I close the help window, the problem persists.

My solution: Restart Matlab and use the Matlab help on the internet.
