Simulink 3D Animation vrworld jumping to command line

I'm using the Simulink 3D Animation suite to make a virtual beach where people navigate around looking for items. The vrworld opens and everything displays properly, but after several seconds (duration somewhat variable) of navigating around via the J, I, and L keys for left, forward, and right, respectively, the cursor jumps to the command line, bringing the Matlab workspace to the frontmost window. Has anyone encountered this, and do you know how to prevent switching between windows?
