Heaviside, App-Designer and Thermal PDE

Hi,

I have a strange problem in the combination of a Heaviside Function and the App-Designer. My App is used to solve PDEs in a thermal model, the heat source has a heaviside function based on the state.time.

1. In Development, the App works fine. However in deployed mode, the heaviside function is 'unknown for input arguments of type double'. I thought all Matlab functions should be available in deployed mode?
2. As a workaround I tried to replace the heaviside function, this works fine if I compare the functions directly. However if I use the substitute as a source in the heat equation the source function is not called at later times. I cannot understand why this happens.

Any ideas?
