how do i define a tensile element in matlab

Hello,
I was wondering how to define a tensile element in Matlab. i.e if point 1 and 2 were connected by a string, how do i express that when defining my structure in the code

In what code? In the absence of any mathematics or code, a string is just a vague concept. Even then, a string can be rather vague, since a string can allow some extensional stretching, or it can be considered perfect, in the sense that no extension is allowed. Even in compression, a string has SOME stiffness in reality.
