Why do I get error 379 while attempting to activate or log in?

During activation or log in of MATLAB, I receive the error 379 "No licenses were found"

This error is caused due to the use of an incorrect Activation Key within the installer including:

1) If you are using an Activation Key then it may be invalid.

2) If you are using an Activation Key for a license that is LNU only.

This error can also occur if you are trying to log into an LNU prompt with an account that does not have an LNU license.

Please use the correct Activation Key in order to activate MATLAB.

Constancio Pinto: It has something to do with comet C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS) breaking up into pieces. Mathworks did not anticipate that, so you will have to contact them and work with them to activate your MATLAB.

When you have an individual MATLAB license associated with your MATLAB Central account, then when you go through installation, you will be prompted for your MATLAB Central account username and password. When you supply those, then the installation procedure will connect to Mathworks and find a list of license numbers associated with your account, and will ask you which one of those to use.

If you have a student license then instead of a license number, there might be an activation key associated with your account. An activation key is a list of 20 (I think it is) letters and numbers, that you have to type in in order to authenticate your access.
