What is the difference between histogram of oriented gradients and edge orientation histogram ?

i know that HOG works on calculating the gradients of each pixel in an image and find the magnitude and angle . As i studied the edge orientation histogram i got that it follow the same method as HOG. I am confused about their difference. is there any? please help me finding out
