Is it possible to make the fill of area under the curve using area() to be translucent or shaded?

I am trying to plot 3 similar curves on top of each other with area(), however as the fill is set to block colours you can olny see the one plotted last/biggest one. Is it possible to make the fill shaded or transluscent so they are all visible at once?

Any help would be great!
