BoxCox power Transformation for wind speed

3 views (last 30 days)
hey i have a dataset with hourly wind speed data. However, when i plot the pdf for it, there is a case where there is an excessive amount of zeros in the data. I am trying to transform my distribution using the box cox power transformation. I read a review "One simple special case is the square root where λ2=0 and λ1=0.5 works fine with zeros (although not with negative values). However, often the square root is not a strong enough transformation to deal with the high levels of skewness seen in real data." How could I go about doing this in matlab?????
