I have a housing society map. There are many plots on it in shape of rectangles which are horizontal and vertical. I want to know how many plots are in the map. I am new in matlab. What should i do guys?

In short it should 1) Read Map which will be an image of course 2) Calculate boundaries of each rectangles 3) Tell me how many houses are in map.
