Is there a way to download MatLab R2011a by having a valid license but not a current subscription?

I would like to know if it is possible to download R2011a MATLAB software without having a current service subscription. The license was transferred to me but I don't have the software on my computer. When trying to download from the website it doesn't seem to want to work. What is the solution?

You could try https://www.mathworks.com/downloads/web_downloads/get_release?release=R2011a but that will not work if your account is not associated with a license valid for R2011a or later. We also have seen suggestion that it is likely to fail for Student licenses (which are not transferable anyhow), and for some Academic licenses (some of the agreements lock the entire university into a single version, for reasons I have never understood.) R2011a also predated Home licenses (which are not transferable either) so the link might possibly not work for Home licenses.
Standard (Commercial / Professional) licenses are transferable within an organization; you might need to contact Mathworks support to get the license associated with your account. This is a license or installation issue, which does not require a support contract.

Bob, you appear to be a commercial user in the US with a perpetual license without software maintenance service. In this case, please call MathWorks installation support in the US, they will work with you so you will have a running MATLAB R2011a soon.

Thank you for your answer. I found the last piece of info I needed to activate and I believe I have it loaded and activated now. Thank you again.
