hello. i have a 2D image of echo which consist of LV contour. and also i have a volume of cardiac ct that i want to find the best slice of it that best matches to my 2D image. if i start to slice the volume with different points and normal vectors(https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/32032-extract-slice-from-volume) it will be infinit situations does any body know how can i find the best maching slice to my 2D image from my 3D volume?

thanks for your attention and response. but my ct data is a volume. could you please tell me how can i register a 2D image and 3D volume?

If you create a mask on the 2D image, you should be able to make a reasonable estimate for how you 2D mask should extend into 3D. You can use the typical shape of a left ventricle in your data set to do so.
Or maybe there are already some solutions to be found online to register a 2D and a 3D object.
