Is there any source for functions that are stated as not supported in the Code Generation Readiness Tool?

Documentation is clear that Coder does not generate for many functions - including ALL string functionality and ALL Table functionality. The lack of this functionality, while a valid decision by MathWorks, sorely reduces what would normally be a great facility to unusable if GUIDE or other advanced facilities are used to create an app that then needs to be sped up by conversion to C/C++. Is there any source for functions that are stated as not supported in the Code Generation Readiness Tool? Has anyone gone through the process of generating code that resulted in their writing of modules that would help others? Is there a code library anywhere? It is understood that such code would not be supported.
As an alternative: Is there a set of workaround functions within Matlab that could be called within Matlab to test and then could be generated from in Coder???
