Can Requirements Management Interface (RMI) be used to trace down to lines of VHDL code?

I need to adhere to DO-254 spec, which mandates that requirements need to have traceability from high-level system specs/requirements all the way down to the lines of code.

I'm aware that RMI can interface with DOORS, but can DOORS be linked to VHDL code via RMI? Also, assume that MATLABs HDL Coder is not being used, and I have a .vhd file of VHDL code from questasim or vivado or wherever... can RMI trace lines of that code to DOORS? Will Simulink blocks/MATLAB code need to be included as an intermediate step? If that's so, how?

An example of traceability to lines of VHDL code would greatly be appreciated.
