I just bought a new Mac and migrated all of my files off the old Mac, but now can't run Matlab and get a license error message. How do I transfer my license information off of the old computer? I got the hostid information, but what do I do now?

You can deactivate Matlab on the old computer and then activate it on the new one.
If you mention an error, please post the complete message.

If you are out of options for the number of computers you can install MATLAB on with your license, you can deactivate it in MATLAB on your old computer. If that’s not possible, this option avails:

How do I deactivate MATLAB?
When MATLAB automatically activates, it registers the volume serial number and the MAC addresses of the machine to your license.
If you cannot access the computer you want to deactivate MATLAB on, you can deactivate the "old computer" that MATLAB registered to by deactivating manually from your MathWorks License Center, since technically it is no longer accessible and can't be deactivated from that specific machine with the specific MAC address.
To deactivate MATLAB from the MathWorks License Center
1. Go to the MathWorks License Center.
2. Select the license you want to deactivate.
3. Select the "Install and Activate" tab.
4. Under the last column, "Deactivate," click the blue X in the row of the 2013 activation.
5. Click the "Manual Deactivation agreement" above the buttons near the bottom of the form.
6. Answer the two questions on the page.
7. Type your name to confirm you that cannot retrieve the deactivation string.
8. Click "Submit Agreement to Deactivate Software" to complete the deactivation process.

Stan,
My old computer's HD crashed, so I used your 8-step process to deactivate my license from the Mathworks License Center. At the end of that process Mathworks guided me through the download, installation, and activation of Matlab on my new computer. It was simple and straightforward.
Thank you!

Does this work with an old version of Matlab? I don't want to pay for an upgrade, but I'd like to move my Matlab from my old laptop to my new laptop.
