how to export datetime time series to excel

I have a datetime time series in matlab. I would like to export it to excel. I tried xlswrite but an error named
"Error using xlswrite (line 165) Input data must be a numeric, cell, or logical array"
How can i resolve it. Please help.

doc exceltime
xlswrite('yourfile.xls',exceltime(yourdatetimearray))
