There seems to be a small bug in the RTWT installer in R2011b which causes problems when your MATLAB is installed in a path containing spaces. You can fix this bug yourself:
>> edit rtwintgt
Find the that reads as follows:
result = system(sprintf('%s %s', installer, args));
and replace it with:
result = system(sprintf('"%s" %s', installer, args));
This adds a pair of double quotes around the installer path, so that when it is run using the System shell, there are no problems because of the space in the path.

Since the error says "An instance of the service is already running" - you don't need to start it again. Run "rtwho" and see what you get as the status.

Got the same error as @sriharsha. edited rtwintgt as suggested by @kaustubha. Again getting the same error as @sriharsha. Now i ran rtwho and got this- Real-Time Windows Target engine error: Real-Time Windows Target installation is not complete. Please type 'rtwintgt -setup' to complete the installation. Type 'help rtwintgt' for more information. Help!! ps-i am also using r2011b, because of my real time setup limitations.
