Reading in Digital Nautical Charts

I'm interested in reading in DNC data into matlab. Has anyone had success with the mapping toolbox? I don't have the toolbox, but according to the help pages it can read in vector format map data. But it doesn't explicitly say it can import Digital Nautical Charts.

rather impossible - how You call it GNC (proper name - ENC) are in most cases encoded. reading is possible but obtaining info from them requires a lot of special functions not offered in matlab
