Hello everyone.
I recently installed MATLAB 2011. I had MATLAB 2008 and when I used to open a Simulink file, it automatically opened MATLAB and then Simulink. Actually it used to show as Simulink object (with the icon). I uninstalled 2008 version and installed 2011 version, but this time the .mdl file showns like I had no MATLAB installed. Nevertheless, when I drag the file to MATLAB it totally works. Any of you know how to associate the file and show the Simulink icon in the Windows Explorer?? I have Windows 7.
Thanks a lot.
Henry

Hi,
righ-click on the mdl file (in windows) -> choose open with (maybe in addition "choose standard program"). Than search for the matlab.exe (in the bin folder, not bin\winXX) and confirm. At the end of the dialogs there should be a check box telling something like, always open that file with the choosen program. Make sure that checkbox is selcted to store the settings.

Currently I dont have access to Windows 7, but probably this may work-
Right Click on File -> Select Open With -> Select Choose Program... -> Browse to Matlab exe and check Always use selected program to open this kind of file. -> Click OK.
Simulink runs on MATLAB. Simulink can not be run seperatley. So opening of Matlab when simulink file is opened is normal.
