Selector block before the spectrum scope

Hi,
in this example Bluetooth Frequency Hopping the spectrum scope is connected with a block "First 512" which is a Selector block. I just can’t understand why this Selector block is necessary. Without it it also seems to work but the spectrums are a little different. Is it ture?

It seems only the first 512 values are taken to calculate the spectrum. Are there any reasons?
