Meta Data Retrieval Error trying to connect to SAP (Sybase) SQL Anywhere 17 database using MATLAB with Database Toolbox

The error description is: "Unable to get meta data:[SAP][ODBC Driver]Driver not capable"
We also get similar error when trying to connect to previous version of Sybase (v11): "Unable to get meta data:[SYBASE][ODBC Driver]Driver not capable"
In both cases, the database is located on same computer as MATLAB and can be successfully connected to outside of MATLAB.
