Default output for ps in the spectrogram function

1 view (last 30 days)
The matlab spectrogram function one of the outputs is "ps".
In the documentation it states
"[___,ps] = spectrogram(___,spectrumtype) also returns a matrix, ps, proportional to the spectrogram of x.
  • If you specify spectrumtype as "psd", each column of ps contains an estimate of the power spectral density (PSD) of a windowed segment.
  • If you specify spectrumtype as "power", each column of ps contains an estimate of the power spectrum of a windowed segment
"
What is the default of ps? PSD or power spectrum?
Thanks

Hi John,
Click on the spectrumtype link in the question. The documentation always (AFAIK) specifies the default values of optional input arguments.

Thank you Paul, you are exactly right. The default is psd.

Apparently the default for spectrumtype is 'psd'. At least that’s how I read it.
