Matlab object tracking frames

Hello

i have a program which allow me to follow a red object in a video frames. when the object is close to the webcam everything is all right but when my object is far from then camera by a distance bigger then 1 meter i lost the tracking of the object!! i tried to change the resolution of the webcam to solve the problem but it didn't work out! any idea on how to solve this problem?
