Why are Roundabout objects not converted correctly through OpenStreetMap (OSM) import into RoadRunner R2022b?

I am trying to import OpenStreetMap (OSM) files containing Roundabout objects into RoadRunner R2022b, however I find that they do not get converted correctly. There are several overlapping road lane objects in the imported file. I have provided a screenshot below of an example of this behaviour ("roundaboutOverlap.png").
I have read through the following RoadRunner R2022b documentation page, but I have not found any mention about the limitations regarding the importing of Roundabout objects:
Why is the Roundabout object not being converted correctly in RoadRunner R2022b? Is there a workaround to prevent this behaviour from occurring?

This Roundabout object is not imported correctly into RoadRunner R2022b because the geographical location chosen does not contain enough OSM metadata to be accurately mapped. RoadRunner R2022b makes assumptions if information is missing in the OSM file. For example, without the "oneway" tag, RoadRunner assumes that the road object is bidirectional. For more information on this workflow, please consult the following MathWorks documentation page:
The workaround steps are as follows:
  1. Manually edit the road lane objects so that they no longer overlap
  2. Modify the OSM files used to include more information regarding the number of lanes and travel direction. In this second case, manual rework may still be needed but it will require less effort.
In order to assist you further in this OSM workflow, please consult the example OSM files available within your RoadRunner R2022b installation directory, e.g. "city.osm". In order to find this particular file, please navigate to the following path:
RRInstallFolder/bin/platform/AssetsInstall/SampleFiles/city.osm
  • Where RRInstallFolder is your local RoadRunner R2022b installation folder.
  • Where platform is the folder name for your OS platform.
