Clicking on a file in the "current folder" window, or saying "open(file.m)" no longer opens file in editor. This worked up until last week. I am running Matlab R2014b, on a Mac with OSX 10.9.5.

Restore the Matlab folder from your backup, such that you have the same conditions as last week.
Please explain, what happens if you try to open the file. Do you get an error message?
