Mask parameters now have compulsory box for alias in property editor. What is it for?

Hi,
in MATLAB 2022b they have made this property compulsory for all mask parameters -> Alias. They also don't allow it to be empty.
However, in the help documentation, they don't explain what it is for. So what should I put for this box?

The R2022b online documentation does not seem to match the documentation from the installation. It seems to be a mistake in the online documentation.
