How to address part of a part of a matrix???!!!

hello everyone and thank for previous answers.

I have this matrix: R=[1 2 3 4; 5 6 7 8];

now I need to use [7 8]

in other words I need to use the elements of (3:4) from the first row R(1,:) and I don't want to do this: P=R(1,:);

P(3:4);

I need to write it directly.

Any help? thanks in advance

I think you mean the 2nd row. That's where [7,8] lies.
