Essential, my laptop it slow, I want to factory reset it to try and boost it's performance (it's only a year old) but I don't want to have to re purchase Matlab, can I redownload it because it recognizes this laptop as having a serial number that has an account?

If you have a valid account and license, verify you can download the software now. Then, as long as you are not changing any hardware on your laptop that the license is associated with, you should be able to download and reinstall the software again after clearing the hard drive and installing the OS. If you are doing online activation, you should "deactivate" first and then activate your license online again after reinstalling.

Make sure your license is still valid on the Mathworks website before deactivating it. If you have further questions contact MATLAB support.

Yes, this is working. If the activation is lost, you can deactivate the old computer and reactivate it on the new one - even if it is the same hardware.

With Windows the HostID to recognize the computer will not change during the reset. So the old activation will be working. Either use the old activation key or copy the license file from the program folder.
