How can I use computer vision toolbox to measure dimensions of planar object ?

I am trying to measure the dimensions of planar objects using Matlab 2014b Computer Vision Tool Box ? The objects to be measured are iron parts ? Currently I am following the example as given in the following link but I am not getting correct results. There is a tutorial on how to use the Camera Calibrator app in the documentation. There is also a video.
