Why do scatter plot markers not change size correctly in R2014b?

With the new graphics package, scatter plots do not always render correctly. For example, when I create a scatter plot with different sized markers:

n = 10;
hScatter = scatter(rand(1,n),rand(1,n),10*(1:n),[1 0 0],'fill');

The markers are initially rendered correctly, but if I try to change them, they shrink no smaller than their original size.

Typing

hScatter.SizeData = 100;

makes all of the markers larger, but typing

hScatter.SizeData = 1;

does not shrink the markers down to a size of 1. They revert back to their original sizes.
