how does MATLAB deal with 'dwt' command?

Hi there,

I try to understand how the 'dwt' command works, so I using a row vector x=1:8 to check how the approximation and details are calculated, see the attachment for details, but it turns out that the approximation and details are not exactly calculated over the neighboring nodes. My current work needs to determine the exactly position of details over a certain threshold, so how is MATLAB dealing with this?
