coding network and physical layer for connectivity in VANET

i am working on VANET , i have implemented routing protocol to check the connectivity in VANET , now i want to implement Mac layer (MIMO technology or want to introduce channel , coding, for BER) , i want to know how i can deploy / implement physical layer in matlab code when i have connectivity on transport layer. how these two layers will interact with each other in program. any one working on cross layer communication and have some example code.
