Why am I seeing an Input Device Error when using the Video Input block in the Image Acquisition Blockset 1.8 (R14SP2)?

2 views (last 30 days)
When my model with a Video Input block is saved, the currently selected device name is saved with it. If the model is opened and that device is not available (device has been uninstalled, model was constructed on a different system, etc.), when the block is opened a pop-up error dialog is generated. The message says Input device "<some_device>" not found. Using "<some_other_device>" instead.

This enhancement has been incorporated in Release 14 Service Pack 3 (R14SP3). For previous product releases, read below for any possible workarounds:
If a model was saved when no devices were available, and the model is reopened when devices are available, no error or warning is reported and the first available device is auto selected for the user.
If a model was saved with a device that is no longer available, an error dialog pops up when the mask is opened indicating device ABC is no longer available and device XYZ is now being selected.
As long as the device you want to use is working correctly, the error dialog can be safely ignored.
