Variable-Ratio Transformer

Discrete variable-ratio two-winding ideal transformer

Since R2019b

  • Variable-Ratio Transformer block

Libraries:
Simscape / Electrical / Specialized Power Systems / Passives

Description

The Variable-Ratio Transformer block implements a discrete, variable-ratio, two-winding ideal transformer.

When you use a Variable-Ratio Transformer block, set the powergui block Simulation type to Discrete and select the Automatically handle Discrete solver and Advanced tab solver settings of blocks parameter in the Preferences tab. The robust discrete solver is used to discretize the electrical model. Simulink® signals an error if the robust discrete solver is not used.

Equations

The voltage ratio between windings 1 and 2 is determined by the input signal, N, such that:

N=N2N1,

where:

  • N1 is the voltage at winding 1.

  • N2 is the voltage at winding 2.

Assumptions and Limitations

  • Windings cannot be unconnected.
