External Mode

Communication interface

Select the transport layer that the External mode uses to exchange data between the computer and the target hardware.

Run external mode in a background thread

Selecting this option forces the External mode engine in the generated code to execute in a background task.

This option is not recommended for models that use a small time step, or which may encounter task overruns. These situations can cause Simulink^® to become unresponsive.

Specify a TCP/IP port number, from 1024 to 65535. External mode uses this port for communication between the target hardware and the computer.

Select this option to view the External mode execution progress and updates in the Diagnostic Viewer or in the MATLAB^® Command Window.
