Application Support Engineer 2

Job Summary

As an Application Support Engineer, you will help customers succeed with MATLAB and Simulink across a wide range of industries and technical domains. You will work closely with engineers and researchers, as well as internal teams in Japan and globally, to understand technical challenges and help customers move their development forward toward their business goals.
While customer use cases are broad, experience addressing challenges related to Model‑Based Design (MBD)–based product development is particularly valuable. By collaborating with development and other internal teams, you will share customer insights and feedback and contribute to the continuous improvement of our products and services.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will provide technical support that helps customers resolve issues and make effective use of MathWorks products in their work. Your responsibilities include:

  • Address technical challenges in control system modeling, embedded development, and implementation workflows using MATLAB and Simulink to help customers make steady progress in their development
  • Collaborate with customers, account teams in Japan, and development organizations globally to deliver solutions aligned with customer needs and business goals
  • Share customer use cases, insights, and technical feedback with internal teams to support continuous improvement of products and services
  • Use modern technologies, including generative AI tools, to research technical topics and gain deeper insight into customer workflows
  • Develop and share technical knowledge and content, including best practices and emerging topics, to support evolving software workflows in the era of generative AI

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree, or equivalent experience) is required.
  • Candidates for this position must be authorized to work in Japan.

Additional Qualifications

Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Japanese
  • English skills sufficient for reading technical documentation and writing emails

Preferred / Pluses:

  • Experience using MATLAB and Simulink products in professional
  • Experience with Model-Based Design (MBD) workflows, such as system modeling, control design, simulation, code generation, testing, or verification
